CINEMA ASPECT RATIOS

  • Information poster (24x36) designed for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The poster outlines the history and evolution of Cinema aspect ratios.

  • • The core graphic overlaid rectangles with two diagonals that are based on major cinema aspect ratios inside of a circular shape. Rectangles with two diagonals refer to the image placeholder and the circle refers to the camera lens. The overlaid diagonal lines gathering in the center look like light lines and create the visual of projection used in the theater. The second layer of information includes descriptions of ten major cinema aspect ratios in chronological order. The small circles inherit from the core graphic but use the image of representative film in that ratio.
